This time around I focused on two things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.) Make the window smaller<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.) Use more normal mapping over geometry<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting this setup in blender was much simpler this time around:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"468\" height=\"604\" src=\"https:\/\/willkolb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-12.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-81\" srcset=\"https:\/\/willkolb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-12.png 468w, https:\/\/willkolb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-12-232x300.png 232w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>By avoiding details everything went by quicker in this stage. Only thing that took time was getting bevels right but really that&#8217;s like a 2 minute process. Once it was in substance I went crazy with some of the built-in normal modifiers. However it turned out much better than I expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"630\" height=\"915\" src=\"https:\/\/willkolb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-13.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82\" srcset=\"https:\/\/willkolb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-13.png 630w, https:\/\/willkolb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-13-207x300.png 207w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m really digging the way the paint turned out, giving it that worn future painted feel. That being said the screws should probably have more wear on them, which I attempted to do but didn&#8217;t figure out how to add a mask paint layer until mid-writing this post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only issue right now is that the door feels barren and the handle seems out of place. I&#8217;m thinking I&#8217;ll try pulling it into unreal and adding decals dynamically (probably something like children&#8217;s drawings, posters, etc.). However that handle is a straight up eyesore.
